About the Artist

Jennifer Fisher, a self-taught artist, is an Oklahoma native with a passion for impressionistic art. She began her journey as a painter. She enjoys pallet knife painting. Using acrylic paint (along with other mediums) she implements a layer upon layer technique to achieve some beautiful broken color effects which are not possible with a brush.

More recently Jennifer has been exploring fiber art using variations of textiles and thread layered to create a piece that, from a distance, appears to be a painting. Her works are assembled by the process of hand-stitching. There is no gluing or pre-painting applied in her technique, all of her pieces are 100% hand-stitched works of love. Surprisingly, despite working with such different mediums, her paintings and stitch works have a very cohesive impressionistic style, causing viewers to need to step closer to distinguish whether they are viewing a painting or a stitched work. All of her works are completed with a hand-made, custom, wooden frame built by her dad.

Jennifer is a stay-at-home, homeschool mom of two boys. She felt called to dedicate herself to her children’s education first and foremost and usually finds time to create after the family is tucked into bed. Faith also plays a central role in Fisher’s creative process. “I pray every time I start a new piece,” she said. “It’s important that I’m not just making something pretty, but creating with purpose.”
