Statement

I have always been an old soul. My artwork lends itself to that depiction as well. I strive to create works that look timeless by using a somewhat subdued color pallet. I’m inspired by light. I’m inspired by shadows and reflections. I’m inspired by nature, flowers, places I want to be, or go...places that are in my mind. There is always a story or emotion behind each piece, even if it’s subtle.

For years I have been primarily a pallet knife painter and have fallen in love with the layer upon layer technique along with the undefined edges the knife leaves behind. I have, in more recent years, begun to also fall in love with fiber art. I create multi-layered, highly textured, stitched works completely hand-sewn with textiles and thread. I love how the undefined technique causes the eye to almost lose the distinction between beginning and end allowing for a visual calm and peace. I find it fascinating how the forms and layers may not be understood when examined closely, but step back and viewed as a whole- the picture comes together, creating a beautiful showpiece -perhaps our moments in time on earth work the same.
